And now, hello to the cozy basement pad where we now live!  We're calling it the Hobbit Hole, and it is lovely.  And cool, which is an immense blessing considering how blastedly hot it is outside right now... (Seriously?  Early June?  Like this?  Boo.)

the boys

The boys!  These are the guys I'm living with for the spring, all together for the first time in our apartment.  They're all a bunch of ridiculously sweet nerds.

O Tannenbaum.  My family always gets a huge Christmas tree, a real proper-sized one really.  This year's model is somewhat slim around the middle - I think it looks like it hit a growth spurt.  I wasn't around to help decorate this year for the first time, but my special angel ornaments are still hung up all over the branches.

Living in a high rise means no pets.  This is why we keep plants!  I give you my bebbies - Tomaty and the Gemini.

tea kettle

Automatic tea kettles!  Best invention since the toaster replaced toasting forks.  I was able to make myself tea in my dorm room with this darling.  I have to be careful - if I have a good book, a few tea bags, and this in my room, I may turn myself into a hermit.

Going along with the autumn theme from yesterday, I love the feeling of curling up next to a window on a cold, blustery day, sipping hot, sweet tea, and enjoying the contrast of heat and chill.

Candles on my dresser.  I love scented candles, particularly in the fall.  There's something very peaceful and comforting about watching the flame flicker.
