dad

My da!  Looking unusually earnest.  Also seen: the chocolate raspberry mousse cheesecake thingamadessert I made him for Father's Day.  My father is the backbone of my life in a lot of ways - he at once encourages me to fend for myself and always has my back, and I know he'd do anything for me, because he pretty much already has done it all.

Love you, Da.

goodbyenote

A goodbye note from a most awesome roommate.  It's sad when things come to an end, but onwards and upwards is the only way life can move if it's going to be enjoyed.  Besides, he's not escaping us for that long if I have anything to say about it...

easter

Happy Easter!  Or Eostre, if we're being properly pagan.  This is my family's Easter set up - complete with baskets for the kids and the dyed eggs of years past as the centerpiece.

party

I have always wanted to have a surprise birthday party, but it's not really one of those things you can plan or even ask for, else the whole point is ruined.  Last night, my fabulous, wonderful, amazing friends managed to completely take me by surprise with a belated birthday party.  I can't remember the last time I was so shocked or had so much fun and I can't believe how much love these guys showed me last night.

And this is the person responsible:

My boyfriend has aspirations to evil mastermind, hand to God.  But in the best possible way.

Today is the one-year anniversary of when my boyfriend and I first starting going out.  In this past year, he has been there for me again and again and has supported me unquestioningly and unconditionally through some of the hardest times I've ever been through.  He's a talented actor, a gifted writer, an incredible friend, a wonderful boyfriend, and the most amazing guy I know, and I'm so thankful that he's in my life.

cake

My third birthday cake!  This one courtesy of my parents and an excellent French bakery - it's double fudge raspberry and it's amazing.  It's been such a nice week, my birthday and getting back into the rhythm of things, and this was the perfect way to end it.

family birthday

My family took my boyfriend and me out to dinner last night to celebrate my birthday!  We went to my favorite seafood restaurant and engaged in the family sport of banter the whole time.  (No one banters like my family does.)  And there was cake afterwards too.  Good times.

This girl is another very dear friend of mine and one of the most awesome people I know.  My spiritual family met yesterday to celebrate a very late Solstice together, and it was the first time I'd seen her since summer.

My Shakespeare family, or most of them at least.  These are the lovelies I've been living, working, and playing with for a good two months now.  I can't imagine my life without them.  This is all us at Orphan Thanksgiving.
