A window seat perfect for long phone conversations, romantic novels, or just sitting and staring out at the rain.

A lampost on the side of a road through a forest that made me stop and starting looking around for Narnia.

Fall street festival in a small New England town.  More cider and baked goods than ever imagined.

The bell tower of an old church.  The bells ring out on the hour and you can hear them all the way into town.  I have a thing for old churches - think they're absolutely wonderful.  And if you add a bell tower, well.

Sunflowers, perhaps the most cheerful of all flowers, swaying in the breeze of a warm fall day.

Beautiful statue of a woman dancing in the downtown sector of a New England town.  I love the freedom on her face.

Also, this blog's been officially going for one week, which is honestly longer than I imagined it would with the combo of my busy schedule and tendency to forget things, so woot!

Muffins!  Part of a balanced breakfast of tasty.  Here we see apple cinnamon and chocolate chip.  They were better in the morning when they were actually warm and eaten with hot, sweet coffee alongside.

Old graveyards, especially when they're gothic and well-kept.  This one had the added bonus of a bunch of gravestones with only one date on them - people preparing their resting place before they've actually died, how delightfully gruesome.

Libraries, dude.  Libraries are pretty damn awesome.  I'm the kind of person who'll go on vacation for a week and still manage to pick up a library card wherever I am; I have four different cards in my wallet right now.  I'm amazed that people are continually impressed by the fact that we can just go to this place, fill out some paperwork, and get access to as many free books as you want.  Yes, you have to return them, but they're still there and easily available and besides having to return them means you have to read them in an alloted time and not buy them and leave them decoratively on a shelf and forget about them for ages.

I adore books, by the way.  Those will feature prominently in this project.

(Also, please note my truly amazing Paint skills.)

Candles on my dresser.  I love scented candles, particularly in the fall.  There's something very peaceful and comforting about watching the flame flicker.

Beginning

Hello, there.

This blog is essentially an experiment in optimism.  I'm not a great photographer and don't have advanced equipment, but my goal is to live my life and to take just one picture each day of something that makes me happy, and then to come here and share it with all of you.  It's a way of each day finding a little reminder that the world is beautiful and awesome and that shouldn't be forgotten.

So let's see what happens.
