Happy Halloween!  Have a blurred picture of yours truly in her Halloween getup.  I went as Lucy from Bram Stoker's Dracula.  (No improper sparkling vampires for me.)

This is, contrary to all appearances, NOT another photo about my obsesssion with fall foliage.  It is instead celebrating the gorgeous weekend that this is shaping up to be.  Happy All Hallow's Eve Eve!

Halloween specialty store in the local mall.  Have I mentioned I love Halloween?  Because I love Halloween.  I have two costumes this year: a sleek and sexy one for the party happening on the night before, and a nerdy and fun one for the day proper.

So I missed a day for the first time since starting this blog, and I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm not.

Today's picture shall simply be known as "Jules."

The Moon was gorgeous last night.  I wished my camera had been better, because this picture hardly does it justice, but I'm not going to cheat and go to stock footage.  And anyway, this is what I truly saw - distant and luminous, high in the sky.

Jack-o'lanterns, set out and grinning.  Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, and it's been a very long time since I had time to carve a pumpkin of my own.  Think I'll get lucky this year.

firefly

This is an awful picture, which is a real shame, because this is a beautiful little fine cuisine restaurant that me and a bunch of absolutely brilliant friends went to last night for discount burger night.  The restaurant itself was lovely, all dark wood and soft warm lighting, quiet until we came in and ruined the atmosphere.  We had red meat, hard cider, and loads of fun making dorky Shakespeare jokes.

Green muffins in the bakery.  How are they green?  Why are they green?  We may never know.  All I know is that these are the first creepy muffins I've ever seen.

candy shop

Beautiful little candy shop that had a vast array of truffles, imported candy, bins of jawbreakers and taffy, bacon-chocolate bars, and giant gummi bears.  I have an enormous sweet tooth, and just being in a place like this will blow my mind.  I often times leave candy shops without buying anything because I can't choose what I want!

contra

Contradancing!  I took myself out last night to a room full of strangers and a string quartet and danced for hours.  Contradancing is essentially New England folk dancing - it was fast paced, involved lots of swinging and circling, and I was brand new and hadn't a clue what I was doing and didn't give a damn.

sonic screwdriver

My new sonic screwdriver (courtesy of the Doctor from Doctor Who), which makes me
happy for several reasons.  One, it's the most important part of my Halloween costume, and Halloween is my favorite holiday.  Two, Doctor Who is in my mind the greatest sci-fi show ever.  Three, I love my sonic screwdriver and am very proud of my nerddom.

caterpillar

Saw this little guy making his way down the middle of the road.  After I took this shot, I moved him to the grass.  Silly little pedestrian caterpillar, don't you know that cars don't follow all proper safety laws?  Your right of way won't mean much if you're squished.

tea kettle

Automatic tea kettles!  Best invention since the toaster replaced toasting forks.  I was able to make myself tea in my dorm room with this darling.  I have to be careful - if I have a good book, a few tea bags, and this in my room, I may turn myself into a hermit.

Going along with the autumn theme from yesterday, I love the feeling of curling up next to a window on a cold, blustery day, sipping hot, sweet tea, and enjoying the contrast of heat and chill.

autumn

It had to happen sometime - autumn foliage against an October blue sky.  I have such a love affair with autumn, and October is my favorite month of the year - best holiday, falling leaves, cool air, long walks, hot drinks.  I've never been in a place that hasn't had a spectacular fall, and this year is no exception.  I'm actually filling a lifelong dream - to see Autumn in New England.

Supermarkets!  There is something bizarrely and wonderfully comforting about a supermarket.  I love just browsing the shelves and feeling secure in the amount of food that's just *there*.  24-Hour ones are the best - grocery shopping at two in the morning is one of the great pleasures of life.

High school!  More importantly, the fact that I'm not in it any more! Thank God!

Although the kids you see pictured here were awesome.  They'd all come together to kick ass and learn Shakespeare.  Why couldn't my high school have been more like that?
