Totems collected today from a friend's holy and artsy business. One is the Tree of the Goddess with the snake spiral of spiritual energy winding down its trunk. The other is a Kundalini snake for inspiration and divination.
Statues of the Hindu gods Ganesh and possibly Shiva - not entirely certain. I think Hinduism is fascinating - need to put that on my to-research list. (Some people have reading lists, I have lists of topics to conquer.)
This is Nimble, the Marmoset. Shakespeare nerds will get the joke. Surprisingly, he is not mine - Jules is responsible for this latest addition to our lot, by means of a well-planned Christmas gift for him.
I made cloven fruit yesterday! Very easy to do - you get whole cloves from the spice aisle at any supermarket and then push them in to oranges or lemons. The cloves preserve the fruit and dry it out so it never rots, and the smell of cinnamon and cloves and citrus that comes from these is incredible. Now my room smells like Christmas.
At a wonderful showing of Antony and Cleopatra last night, I saw this dress out in the lobby - it's a costume from Shakespeare's Cymbeline for one of my favorite characters, Imogen. I saw myself so easily wearing this and playing that role.
My new sonic screwdriver (courtesy of the Doctor from Doctor Who), which makes me happy for several reasons. One, it's the most important part of my Halloween costume, and Halloween is my favorite holiday. Two, Doctor Who is in my mind the greatest sci-fi show ever. Three, I love my sonic screwdriver and am very proud of my nerddom.
Automatic tea kettles! Best invention since the toaster replaced toasting forks. I was able to make myself tea in my dorm room with this darling. I have to be careful - if I have a good book, a few tea bags, and this in my room, I may turn myself into a hermit.
Going along with the autumn theme from yesterday, I love the feeling of curling up next to a window on a cold, blustery day, sipping hot, sweet tea, and enjoying the contrast of heat and chill.
Candles on my dresser. I love scented candles, particularly in the fall. There's something very peaceful and comforting about watching the flame flicker.
